The Super Tukker is a red natural wine from Twente, with a unique design and a distinctive character. This wine, made by Marcel Oude Booijink, is the result of 15 years of pioneering work in natural and sustainable winemaking. This special wine deserved a special design, which is why we strived to capture the purity of our wine in the design. Instead of adding something to the bottle using a traditional label, we have developed an innovative sandblasting technique that blows the label directly out of the bottle.
The Process: Sandblasting in Relief
To achieve the unique result of Super Tukker, we created a template mold. This mold ensures an accurate and efficient process when sandblasting the bottle. Sandblasting the bottle through the mold openings creates relief, which creates a beautiful interplay between gloss and matte. Each bottle is crafted by hand, creating a traditional character and making each bottle unique.
The Name: Super Tukker, A Tribute to Pioneers
The name Super Tukker is a nod to the famous 'Super Tuscans'. These wines are the result of pioneering winemakers from Tuscany, Italy. In the 1970s, these winemakers chose to use grape varieties not recognized by the Italian classification, causing their wines to be labeled as table wine. Today, the Super Tuscans enjoy worldwide fame. The delicious high-quality flavors that remind us of Italian wines in combination with the pioneering work of Twente winemaker Marcel Oude Booijink became the source of inspiration for the Super Tukker. People from Twente, where the wine comes from, are affectionately called 'Tukker'.
