The Auxerrois – Wijnhoeve De Kleine Schorre is a beautiful Zeeland surprise made from Auxerrois.
The Auxerrois, family of the Pinot Blanc, is a refined and lively wine. The wine contains soft tones of apple, citrus, and subtle accents of peach and pear. Due to the low acidity, the wine remains smooth and well balanced.
Goes well with fried fish, such as sole, Zeeland lobster and mussels.
Alcohol: 12.5%
About the winemaker:
De Kleine Schorre is located in Schouwen Duivenland, Zeeland. Due to the sea breeze you can find a light mineral / salty touch in the wines here.
The sunny location in the Netherlands allows the grapes to ripen well and the maritime climate means they are slightly better protected against frost.
Originally, other types of fruit were grown on the estate, but when the last generation, Johan Van der Velde, took over from his father, the focus shifted to grape cultivation.
This has worked out so well that they are now one of the largest winemakers in the Netherlands with 14 hectares and their full focus is on grape growing and winemaking.
The classic grape varieties Auxerrois, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris and Rivaner are planted on the chalky soil
