The Larens Blanje Bleu is a Blanc de Noir made as a white wine from blue wine grapes from Laren in Gelderland. In the taste you discover the freshness of white wine with the characteristics of red. In the nose you discover tones of lime, currant and blueberries. In the mouth you taste fresh acids and the dark forest fruit remains slightly present. Drink this wine cold.
Wijngoed Gelders Laren
Winemakers Diana van der Biezen and Gert Jan Voortman focus entirely on achieving the optimum quality of the wine grapes. They do this by letting the plants grow in optimal conditions, applying truss thinning and picking selectively during the harvest and personally checking each grape cluster. In addition to its own Coulisse wines, Wijngoed Gelders Laren produces quality wines with passionate sommeliers. In addition to the Larens Blanje Bleu, we at Design & Wine also have a Orange wine, 'Orange Above' released with winery Gelders Laren. Other collaborations include Thérèse Boer. This wine, 'the kiss of Thérèse', is made exclusively for restaurant The Librije***. Learn more about it via the link Winery Gelders Laren.
Goes well with
This wine is excellent as an aperitif and with tart dishes. Think of ceviche or a Greek salad.
The grape variety
This wine is made with a blue wine grape, the so-called cabertin. In the family tree of this relatively new grape variety you will find the Cabernet Sauvignon, Riesling, Sylvaner and many other resistant grape varieties. Due to the crossings, this grape variety is more resistant to fungi and other pests and a strong plant has emerged. This fits perfectly in the Dutch climate. The grapes of the cabertin provide deep dark red wines with aromas of blackcurrant and black cherry. However, this wine, the Larens Blanje Bleu, has been made 'Blanc de Noir'. By keeping the skins away from the juice, you get the characteristics, but not the color.
How are blanc de noir wines made?
The production of blanc de noir wines is a delicate one. After harvesting, the red grapes are pressed, but instead of allowing the juice to ferment along with the skins and pips, they are kept separate. This keeps the color of the wine white, while the flavors and aromas of the red grapes are still in the wine.
Music with wine
A matching spotify playlist has been made especially for this wine by DJ Meester Difficult. Listen and get in the mood!
