Robien Fortwien – Wijngaard De Reeborghesch

The Robien Fortwien is a fortified red wine that blends fruit, warmth, and spice. Made from Acolon, Cabertin, Rondo, and several other red grape varieties, the result is a dark red, hazy wine with a thick texture and a distinct character. A wine that doesn't want to be rushed. It's powerful, robust, yet refined with a distinct sweetness.

Character and aromas

On the nose, the Robien Fortwien is rich and lush: ripe berries, red fruit, and hints of jam. The aroma is supported by subtle vanilla, chocolate, and a warm spiciness. The woody influence is present but nicely controlled, adding depth without being overpowering.

On the palate, you immediately taste the sweet character, round and velvety, with hardly any acidity, bitterness, or tannins. The wine has a full body and a high alcohol content (18.5%), which is beautifully integrated. The long finish is refreshed by a touch of acidity, which creates balance and tension.

How it's made

The grapes are harvested by hand on the slopes of De Reeborghesch Vineyard in the Achterhoek region. The wine is bottled unfiltered to preserve its pure aromas and full character. Thanks to the special vinification process, which preserves the natural sugars and increases the alcohol content, the result is a powerful wine in the style of a traditional port, but with a distinctly Dutch signature.

The Robien Fortwien is an ideal dessert or cheese wine. It truly shines with aged cheeses and blue cheeses. Its sweet, warm profile creates a beautiful contrast with the salty, tangy flavors of Roquefort or Stilton, for example. It also pairs wonderfully with dark chocolate or a fig tart.
