This dry, unfiltered Ay-Wines Riesling from French Alsace is packed with surprising flavors. Think of refreshing citrus notes of lime and lemon, but also juicy stone fruit such as peach and apricot. The wonderful aromas of white flowers with the typical mineral notes provide a true taste experience.

The special thing about the Ay-Unfiltered Riesling is that the wine can be a bit cloudy due to the small particles and sediment in it. Don't worry, that's crazy, because that's due to the natural unfiltered process that retains all the good taste. The result? A wine with a fuller and richer mouthfeel, that will really give your taste buds a party!

The story of Ayleen Charlotte, founder of Ay-Wines

In 2017, Ayleen Charlotte met con artist Shimon Hayut, better known as the 'Tinder Swindler' from the popular documentary of the same name on Netflix (2022). Although Ayleen is seen as the heroine of the documentary, she is also a victim. To break away from the victim role, Ayleen has decided to set up her own wine label, Ay-wines - also called Ay Unfiltered. With this, Ayleen wants to show other fraud victims that there is a life after a scam and that you can take back control of your life little by little.

Given the international ambitions of Ay-Wines and the fairly limited editions in the Netherlands, we made a trip to the famous Riesling region, Alsace, for this. For this reason, the Ay Riesling is the only non-Dutch wine in our webshop! Tip: taste the famous Alsace Riesling next to a Dutch Riesling and discover the influences of terroir and climate.

Winemaker Charles Frey

Ay-Wines only works with pioneering vineyards that make wine at a very high level. For Riesling, we helped select such a very good wine estate, namely Charles Frey.

The Charles Frey wine estate in Alsace is pioneering biodynamic agriculture. The Frey family has been active in Dambach-la-Ville since the 18th century and has always had the ambition to produce wine. It wasn't until 1963 that they took the step to make their own bottles of wine. In 1997, they decided to convert the entire farm into a biodynamic agricultural business, encouraging sustainability and biodiversity.

Today, the vineyard is managed by Dominique Frey and his two sons, Julien and Thiébaud. Their dedication to biodynamic principles is reflected in the quality of their wines, such as the Ay Unfiltered Riesling. By choosing biodynamic farming, they demonstrate that they produce wine with care and attention to nature, resulting in artisanal wines of a very high quality.
