About the winemaker

Elegast makes artisanal cider from Dutch apples and pears sourced from organic high-stem orchards. These orchards, still a rarity in the Netherlands, are a biodiverse paradise teeming with flora and fauna. Unfortunately, the fruits grown here are often unsuitable for commercial cultivation – they're too expensive to harvest by hand, and a blemish on an apple makes it commercially unsuitable. But it's precisely these trees, with their ancient roots and natural growth, that deliver the best flavors.

With Elegast, we're giving these historic orchards a new purpose and additional income. Our cider is made from 100% freshly squeezed fruit juice – pure and unprocessed, with only a little yeast and minimal added sulfites, if any. This cider holds no secrets: natural cider in its purest form.
