About the Wine
Gooisch Bloed Cuvée Supérieur Magnum is rightly a Cuvée Supèrieur due to the beautiful and unique cuvée of the Dutch Cabernet Noir grape and the French Merlot grape. The wine was harvested in 2022 and bottled in December 2023. To preserve the exclusivity of the wine, Gooisch Bloed was bottled in only 288 magnum bottles. In a magnum bottle, the wine can develop better than in regular bottles, which is beneficial for the maturation and storage potential. After production, the wine matured for nine months in the Netherlands on French oak barrels. This maturation has resulted in a balanced, classic red wine that can mature for at least another five years, but can also be drunk immediately. This wine reflects the passion for craftsmanship and the spirit of the region, resulting in a unique taste experience. This combination of grapes on exceptional soils results in a wine of exceptional class.
Tasting note
The Cuvée Supérieur Magnum called 'Gooisch Bloed' has a beautiful deep red, almost purple color. In the nose, powerful aromas emerge of blackberries, forest fruits, strawberries, black cherries, cinnamon and a hint of black pepper. In the taste, the blackberries and plums dominate, supported by a hint of vanilla. The tannins are soft and velvety. The aftertaste is long and creamy like butter, which gives a delicious roundness. The wine has an alcohol percentage of 14.5% and gives a beautiful body.
Grape varieties
The Cabernet Noir is grown on the Zonnestraal Estate near Hilversum. Four years ago, a vineyard was acquired on this estate on the fertile sandy soils filled with spring water from the Gooische Heuvels, located between the Eems and the Vecht. Het Gooi has a long history as a prosperous and prestigious area in the southeast of North Holland. The name “Gooisch Bloed” honors this region and its rich heritage.
The Merlot comes from the French Chateau Senailhac. This Chateau is located near the regions of Pomerol and Saint-Émilion, at the point where the Dordogne and the Garonne meet. This unique confluence of rivers provides the world-famous clay soils of Bordeaux with fantastic blood circulation and cools the Merlot grape like nowhere else in the world.
Goes well with
Excellent match for red meat such as entrecote or ribeye, game meat such as venison or pheasant, beef bourguignon stews or richly filled ratatouille.
