Super Tukker – 0.75L & 1.5L – Dutch Red Natural Wine

The sultry summer of 2018 produced ripe, flavorful grapes. Try this full-bodied red wine and savor blackberries, cherries, and hints of anise and vanilla. The wine will transport you to Italy, and that beauty comes directly from Vriezenveen, Twente. The Super Tukker is made by Marcel Oude Booijink. Marcel has been working purely naturally for 15 years and is a pioneer in natural and sustainable winemaking. This wine was specially bottled for Design & Wijn. The Super Tukker 2.0 comes from the 2018 vintage and was bottled in 2024. The wine has been aged for over four years in used oak barrels. The influence of the oak is subtle, and the long aging has softened the tannins.

The wine is made in a very limited edition: 220 bottles & 20 Magnums

About the winemaker

Less is more when making wines Pure Nature Estate VieVinVjenne Intervention is kept to a minimum. Winemakers Marcel and Hermien Oude-Booijink, in addition to their vines, also cultivate apple trees, graze sheep, and produce organic hay. While almost every winemaker harvests by grape variety, Marcel and Hermien take a slightly different approach. During harvest, only the ripest specimens of each grape variety are picked. This means that grapes that have been slightly shaded are given a few extra days to fully ripen. A labor-intensive task that almost no winemaker bothers with during the busy harvest season. However, by using only the very best-ripened grapes, the quality of the wine is exceptional. Everything is harvested by hand and rigorously selected.

Save advice

Wine naturally contains sulfites. It's perfectly normal to add some to extend the wine's shelf life. However, sulfites also have drawbacks, such as headaches and nausea. VieVinVjenne wines have chosen to add minimal amounts of sulfites. For this reason, store your natural wine in a cool, dark, and stable temperature.

The design

The Twente landscape has been sandblasted into the wine bottle. Sandblasting involves blowing sand against the glass with compressed air, giving it a matte and rough appearance. Our designer, Rose Groot, wanted to keep the bottle's design as pure as the wine itself. Therefore, nothing more than a label or tag was added.

The name 'Super Tucker'

The Super Tukker, a nod to the Super Tuscans. Super Tuscans are wines made by a group of pioneering winemakers from Tuscany, Italy. In the 1970s, they decided to plant grape varieties not recognized by the Italian classification system, thus classifying them as table wines. The wines of these winemakers are now world-renowned. The inspiration for the name came quickly: the pioneering work of winemaker Marcel, the flavors reminiscent of Italy, and, of course, the Twente region, where people are affectionately called Tukker.
