Piquette

This lightly sparkling, refreshing drink is low in alcohol. It is made by adding water to the residual products of the winemaking process. These are the stems and skins of the wine grapes. By adding sugar, a fermentation process starts, which again creates alcohol. However, this is a lot less than with wine due to the addition of water. Piquette is often between 4 to 9% alcohol.
